The National Statistics Office of Georgia has published the April inflation rate, which says the annual inflation indicator was 6,9% in April 2020.
In April 2020 the prices on fruits (by 45%), milk products (23%), meat (15%) and baked products (by 8,4%) increased compared to April 2019.
Price change in the foods and non-alcoholic drinks influenced the annual inflation rate, as the prices jumped by 16,1% in the group.
Prices have also risen on the following sub-groups:
- Fruits and grapes – 45,5%
- Milk, cheese and eggs – 23,2%
- Sugar, jam and other sweets – 16,9%
- Meat and meat products – 15%
- Fish – 14,9%
- Vegetables – 14,1%
- Oil and fat – 11,0%
- Mineral and natural water, non-alcoholic beverages and natural juices – 10%
- Coffee, tea and cocoa – 10%
- Bread and baked products – 8,4%
Prices in the healthcare field increased by 4,9% in April 2020.
