Russia plans to increase freights through the BTK corridor.

Russian Expert Evgeniy Mikhailov provided the report.az news agency with an explanation on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) using prospects by the Russian side.

In his words, Moscow plans to increase freight traffic only, and it will be attractive and profitable for all of the parties.

In his words, there is nothing personal but only respect.

"The economy often overweighs policy and double standards and unifies countries finally. Russia and Azerbaijan have agreed on maps and large economic projects. The latter will increase joint freight traffic that will be profitable for Georgia despite its complicated relations with Moscow,'' Mikhailov said.

In his words, Georgian politicians' statements to Moscow have 'mitigated' recently, influencing the benefit received from the BTK freights.

He adds that Azerbaijan, as a partner of Russia and Georgia can become a mediator between Russia and Georgia.

As a reminder, ADY Express LLC, a representative of CJSC, the affiliate company of Azerbaijani Railway, started transferring the product of EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Russian company to Turkey via BTK in December 2019.

The total weight of the first cargo is 2,053 tonnes.

EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil is one of the largest metallurgic factories globally, raking 15th in metal production.

BTK Railway enables transportation of 100,000 tonnes monthly belonging to Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works.

In 2018, ADY Express transferred 1,324 tonnes of goods (20 wagons), while in 2019, it transported 25,193 tonnes (385 carriages), and in January – May 2020, the rate equaled 29,673 tonnes (537 wagons).
