As reported by the Business Association of Georgia, in parallel to the fuel control changes in Georgia, a whole set of changes is required in the quality standards of petrol and diesel.

The association says the quality norms include only four controlling components, i.e., the government fails to check the imported and local fuel quality thoroughly.

Director of the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum company Levan Giorgadze says that the fuel quality monitoring criteria are scarce.

He welcomes the expansion of the list of the evaluation components.

"We agree with the views of Georgia's Business Association as we suppose the components for the fuel quality monitoring are scarce. We support the list of the components to expand," Levan Giorgadze told report.ge.

The fuel is controlled by four or five main components in Georgia.

Head of the Union of Oil Importers, Vano Mtvralashvili, says that Georgia is yet far from the modern standards, as the European standard includes at least ten components.
