The government will control how social distancing is ensured on Georgia's beaches in summer, 2020, Head of the Adjara autonomous republic Tornike Rizhvadze said.

In his words, doctors say the seawater does not transmit the novel coronavirus.

''I believe our citizens and tourists will do their best to ensure social distancing,'' he said.

Tornike Rizhvadze claims that the tourism supporting plan will enable the regional tourism industry to host tourists and receive incomes, as well.

''Many hotels and accommodation facilities in Adjara will enjoy the allowances,'' he said, adding the hotels should provide higher safety standards to tourists.

Notably, Adjara may be declared as a green tourist zone.

The region will host international travelers from July 1, while it will open for Georgian citizens on June 15.

The key message of the new tourism plan, presented yesterday, is to ensure the safe image of Georgia.

Restrictions in tourism will be lifted in three phases in Georgia. The government will allocate safe tourist zones.
