Tbilisi hosts International Symposium on Geographical Indications

Tbilisi has hosted The International Symposium on Geographical Indications, with the event being held under the aegis of The National Intellectual Property Center SAKPATENTI and the Global Alliance of Geographical Indications OriGin. The event aims to promote the geographic indications protection system, raise Georgian entrepreneurs awareness, ease communication with foreign partners and ensure familiarization with local products.

The Symposium was opened by Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Chairperson of The National Intellectual Property Center SAKPATENTI Genadi Lebanidze and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Khvtisiashvili.

As the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture mentioned in his speech, protection of geographical indications is one of the top priorities for the rural development strategy.
