In January-March 2021, 10,176.2 thousand tons of cargo was transported through Azerbaijan using the Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) international transport corridor; the turnover of goods amounted to 2 billion 405.2 million tons/km. According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, compared to the same period last year, cargo turnover in the corridor decreased by 230.3 million tons/km, or 8.7%.
According to statistics, 5 million 636 thousand tons (55.4%) of cargo was transported by road, 3 million 349.4 thousand tons (32.9%) - by railway, 1 million 190.8 thousand tons (11.7%) - by sea.
In the total volume of freight shipments along the transport corridor, transit cargoes account for 23.5% or 2 million 393.9 thousand tons. Their volume increased by 191.7 thousand tons or 8.7% annually.
