Turkey increases toll for Azerbaijani oil transportation via BTC

Turkey and BP reached an agreement to “improve” the toll ($0.55 a barrel) for transportation of Azerbaijani oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline through Turkey, Report. az informs, citing Haberturk.

A few months ago, Ankara put forward its demand for increasing the toll. Turkish side said the toll is too low, citing economic and technical aspects.

Sources said the parties agreed to "improve" the toll. However, information about the new fee level was not provided because of the protection of the principles of "confidentiality."

It is noteworthy that tolls for transportation of oil via similar pipelines amount to $1.5-2.

Azerbaijan transports oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline through Georgia. According to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, 8 mln 950.7 thousand tonnes of oil were transported via Azerbaijan's main pipeline in January-March, of which 76.8% was transported via the BTC.
