The Turkish national currency strengthened by 2% on Thursday. According to Report.ge, the Central Bank of Turkey spreads information.

As of December 23 trading data, one US dollar is worth 11.82 liras.

One week ago, the Central Bank of Turkey decided to reduce the discount rate from 15% to 14%, which led to another sharp devaluation of the Turkish currency.

On Monday, the Turkish national currency hit a record high of 18.4 lira against the dollar.

The dollar was worth 6.9 lira in February, after which the Turkish currency depreciated by almost 120 percent.

The lira fell sharply after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan fired three senior central bank officials, including two deputy governors.
