According to the head of the National Center for Disease Control, Amiran Gamkrelidze, 131 out of 1 759 cases of coronavirus detected in Georgia in the last 24 hours are medical personnel.
Gamkrelidze noted that the infection of the medical staff did not occur just while performing their professional activities.
"Unfortunately, the medical staff is getting infected. There are 131 of them, including doctors, nurses, and junior medical staff. Unfortunately, it is a known fact that we are the most vulnerable group during this infection," Amiran Gamkrelidze said.
1 759 new coronavirus cases were detected in Georgia during the last day, while 350 patients recovered, and five died.
