A 22-year-old woman from Zugdidi reportedly died of the flu virus. The Zugdidi Referral Hospital received the patient on January 19. The medics later decided to transfer her to the Unical Medi. According to reports, a young woman died on January 22 while being transported from Kutaisi to Tbilisi.
Sulkhan Orzhonia, the clinical manager of the Zugdidi Referral Hospital, stated that the patient had symptoms typical of the virus.
"It was a severe respiratory failure. We took the patient to the Emergency Department for appropriate investigations and placed her in the resuscitation department, started antiviral and antibiotic therapy, however by the next morning, the clinic administration decided to transfer the patient to Kutaisi," Sulkhan Orzhonia said.
Expertise will determine the cause of the death of the young woman.
