Allergist Kulumbegov defines Georgia's coronavirus death tally as concerning

Allergist/Immunologist Bidzina Kulumbegov has defined the number of COVID-19 deaths in Georgia as concerning and focused on the necessity of learning the causes of increasing deaths.

''Around seven or eight people's death per million may be defined as unusual for Georgia. This is a concerning number as this means that the country loses around 25 or 30 people per 1,000 coronavirus-affected.

The tally needs to be subject to serious studies; it must be learned whether some issues exist in logistics or whether increased lethality from the British coronavirus variant can be the possible reason for this,'' Mr. Kulumbegov told TV Pirveli.

Georgia recorded 1,233 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours to bring the total tally to 345,196, according to StopCov.ge.

The country registered 1,002 recoveries bringing the total number to 328,620.

Thirty-one patients died in the past 24 hours, with the death toll now standing at 4,804.
