According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, wearing a mask is an inconvenience, but according to his forecast, the population will have to use it for at least a year.
"The pandemic has shown us that mask is the most powerful weapon for protection. There is a lot of scientific evidence for this. Compared to November-December, we have a tenfold decrease in new cases. The people, the population, and perhaps even the controllers believed that we had defeated the epidemic and survived. We are all responsible. Control alone can not do much if our self-awareness does not increase. I understand, today we all experience inconvenience for wearing masks, but there is no other way. The vaccine will give us results when cumulative immunity accumulates in the country; that is, when a certain number of people will be vaccinated. We have to get used to the fact that we are wearing masks by the end of the year or maybe even more," Amiran Gamkrelidze stated.
