Amiran Gamkrelidze: two cases of unidentified origin

“Now I can say with a higher probability that we are having precedents of internal transmission,” – says the Head of NCDC, Amiran Gamkrelidze

He says there are two cases when we fail to define the origin of the infection.

“One out of the last three cases we hope to have the infection source, the person is already isolated, and corresponding tests are in process with him; but in two other cases, the origin is not defined and most probably, will not be defined. These two cases are most likely are of local transmission precedent. It is the signs of alarm. That means that these people are infected by someone who is not identified, and that person continues transmission of the virus to others,” – says Amiran Gamkrelidze.
