According to the director of the National Center for Disease Control, the minister's order to reduce the 120-day period from coronavirus infection to vaccination to 30 days will be signed this week.
Gamkrelidze did not rule out that those cured of the coronavirus will be vaccinated with only one dose. He cited the example of Switzerland for this.
"The antibodies will not pose a threat to the vaccine. It is an additional booster for antibodies for an even greater immune response. Different countries have different deadlines. The extended period was due to vaccine shortages. You know that in the spring, we had a certain shortage of vaccines. Therefore, now it is better to vaccinate people with at least one vaccine. In some countries, such as Switzerland, a single vaccination is sufficient if a person had the coronavirus. This is also possible. We followed the American, British, German, and other recommendations and made a decision. Because we do not have a shortage of vaccines in the country, people better get vaccinated," Gamkrelidze said.
