Amiran Gamkrelidze: With Delta strain even vaccinating 60% is no longer enough

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, vaccinating 60% of the adult population is no longer enough with delta strain in the country.

"Today, we have 26% of the adult population vaccinated. 60% should be vaccinated by the end of the year to have a relatively normal new year, but 60% is no longer enough. Delta strain creates the necessity for more vaccination," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

Amiran Gamkrelidze also spoke about the decrease in the vaccination rate and said that one of the reasons is the lack of communication with the population.

"Since September 16, the vaccination rate in the country is gradually decreasing. There are many reasons for this, but one of the reasons is that we are reducing communication with the population. We have to go to every village and settlement to convince them that the vaccine is a great thing. If we are vaccinated, we are more protected," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
