Fifty years later, the body of General Giorgi Kvinitadze has been transferred from France to Georgia.

An official ceremony was held at the Tbilisi International Airport in honor of the Georgian general who died in exile.

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, Parliamentary Speaker Kakhaber Kuchava, and Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze attended the ceremony.

General Georgy Kvinitadze is a symbol of the fight against the Russian occupation. The name of the commander-in-chief of the army of the First Georgian Republic is associated with the idea of creating a regular Georgian army and a cadet school.

After the Soviet occupation, the general and other representatives of the government and command went into forced emigration.

A civil funeral will be held in the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Tbilisi.

On May 26, the late general's body will be buried in the Mtatsminda Pantheon.
