A rise in coronavirus cases is projected, according to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control. In his words, upward trends in other countries make him come to this conclusion.

"The sixth week after the start of in-country transmission is coming to an end. Other countries' experience shows that the virus peaks after the sixth, sevenths or eighth week. I do not have a clue whether we will follow in these country's footsteps, but this is what generally happens. This way or that, the only thing that now matters is to identify these cases in the shortest possible time.

We had 27 new coronavirus patients yesterday, with their contacts now traced. Mainly, they are members of the Kvemo Kartli cluster involving Bolnisi, Tetritskaro, and Marneuli. These regions have mostly been locked down to curb the spread of the virus. I plan to visit Marneuli, Tetritskaro and Bolnisi tomorrow to inspect the situation there," Gamkrelidze said.
