A clergyman in the region of Kakheti has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The newly diagnosed clergyman lives in the Kvareli municipality. Reportedly, he is in stable condition. Epidemiologists are now testing his contacts. 

Georgia recorded 569 new cases in the past 24 hours to bring the total tally to 12,841. The country has registered 6,876 recoveries and 102 deaths.  

Georgia reported its first COVID-19 case on 26 February 2020. The WHO labeled the virus a pandemic on 11 March 2020. Its outbreak started in China in December of 2019. China confirmed it was contagious on 21 January and declared quarantine in its two cities.
