A COVID-19 patient who was declared recovered at the Tbilisi Infectious Disease hospital has reportedly tested positive for the disease. Infectious disease specialist Alexandre Goginava said after two initial negative results, the patient tested positive in self-isolation.
Goginava says that in this particular case, the patient was not reinfected. He explains that after the symptoms disappear, the virus may be left, say, in the digestive system, and the post-treatment test may detect precisely this virus.
A patient in Sachkere has already tested positive after initial recovery.
