Fifty-one patients have died of coronavirus in Georgia in the last 24 hours. Berdia Sichinava, the Deputy Chief of Operations at the Interagency Coordination Council, revealed the new numbers at a Government Administration briefing.

"Unfortunately, we have 51 cases that ended with death from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have a total of 2 233 deaths reported," Sichinava said.

2 345 new patients tested positive for coronavirus in Georgia, while 3 560 patients defeated the virus.

214 871 people have COVID-19 in the country, of which 191 968 already recovered.

The first case of coronavirus got detected on February 26, 2020, in Georgia.

The World Health Organization recognized coronavirus as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

The outbreak of pneumonia in China began in December of 2019.

China confirmed that coronavirus was contagious and declared quarantine in two cities on January 21.
