Devi Tabidze, the Clinical Director of the Republican Hospital, an expert on health issues, says that the situation in Georgia is catastrophic today.
He said if the number of infected increases at a similar rate, the healthcare system will collapse.
"The current situation is catastrophic. Recently, the daily infection rate exceeds 5 000; this figure is completely unacceptable for the population of Georgia.
This is caused by a variety of reasons. One of them is that people received the wrong message from the government - the lifting of restrictions was not a sign that the coronavirus is over in our country.
Given this reality, if things continued like this for 2-3 weeks, the healthcare system will collapse. Eventually, this will lead to losing a very large number of our fellow citizens, relatives, and loved ones. Fifty deaths every day is a very high mark," Devi Tabidze told Mtavari Channel.
