No grid can withstand the electricity consumption that is fixed there. Repeats of accidents are inevitable; therefore, "Energo Pro Georgia" fully absolves itself of responsibility for the situation in Mestia. According to our analysis, the consumption of the population has also increased; however, the main reason is the illegally connected mines, the number of which is growing even in these difficult days," Energo Pro Georgia revealed.
Mikheil Botsvadze, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Energo Pro Georgia Holding, calls the mining in Mestia harmful. According to him, the whole region is suffering from this.
The company says there is a way out.
"We declare with full responsibility that the energy crisis in Upper Svaneti is a solvable problem; we have a specific plan to meet next winter without illegal mining," Botsvadze said.
