"Fire at the Varketili market burned down an area of 4,000 square meters," the head of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Emergency Management Agency told reporters.
According to Otar Kereselidze, the fire in the area has been eliminated.
"At the moment, we completely extinguished the fire. About 4,000 square feet of storage booths burned in the fire. For safety reasons, three more fire engines remain on site. Firefighters had to work on the site all night. We can't say what caused the incident yet," Kereselidze said.
According to him, the relevant services are working on the spot to determine the causes of the fire.
