“The current month and the first half of May will be very hard,” – said the Head of the NCDC, Amiran Gamkrelidze. According to him, the implemented preventive activities have restricted the massive spread of the infection at maximum.
“We gained time by doing so for the health sector to prepare for a more serious challenge,” – said Gamrelidze.
According to him, they are following the prognosis that is considered by the experimental modeling.
“All of us must follow the demands imposed by the state of emergency, i.e., quarantine, self-isolation, and the most important means of the fight is social distancing! There is no medication to prevent infection; we only have medication to treat the patients, but to prevent infection, we only have social distancing. If we follow this rule, we will manage to get less harm to the epidemic” – said Gamkrelidze.
The number of confirmed coronavirus infections is 157; 5,526 persons are in quarantine; 344 persons are under medical observation; one person has died.
