Georgia has reportedly confirmed its first cases of Indian coronavirus strain. Foreign citizens have proved to be infected with the variant.

''Within the framework of epidemiological surveillance, after collecting the samples of five tourists and subjecting them to PCR tests and parallel sequencing, it was determined that these people have been infected with the Indian variant of SARS-CoV-2.

All infected persons have been identified and subjected to isolation.

They entered Georgia on different days from the same country, but they are citizens of different countries.

Three of them have already left Georgia,'' the NCDC says.
