Georgia: Events planned to celebrate Independence Day

Georgia has refused to hold large-scale events on the occasion of its Independence Day for two consecutive years to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

The Ministry of Defense informs that on 26 May, recruiters will take the Oath of Enlistment, after which they will join the Defense Forces of Georgia.

Servicemen at military units of the Defense Forces and NATO and US combat instructors will be performing marching drills together with recruits.

Flags will be displayed in the windows of all residential houses and institutions throughout the country.

Tomorrow, General Giorgi Kvinitadze, provided with military funeral honors, will be buried in the Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures.

Additionally, a gala concert will be held at Tavisupleba Square in Tbilisi.

Polish President Andrzej Sebastian Duda will also pay a visit to Georgia on 26 May. He will attend the gala concert and make a speech at the event.

To prevent the spread of the novel virus, various exhibitions and processions are not set to be conducted to celebrate the National Holiday this year. Citizens will be enabled to watch events live on air.
