Georgian Railway made a statement regarding the car accident in Zugdidi, during which the train collided with a car, saying that the driver of the vehicle did not obey the traffic rules.

As report.ge was told by the press service of the Georgian Railway, the investigation has already started.

"The car did not obey the traffic sign at the Zugdidi station and collided with the train. The driver of the car, who has already been taken to the clinic, was injured. Law enforcers are working on the spot. The case is being investigated, after which the cause of the accident will be determined," the head of the press service of the Georgian Railway, Irine Khizanishvili, told report.ge.

As the Ministry of Internal Affairs told report.ge, the investigation into the incident was launched under Article 275 of the Criminal Code, which stipulates violation of safety or operation of railway, water, air, or rope transport.

The Zugdidi-Tbilisi passenger train recently collided with a car driven by a member of the Zugdidi City Council.
