Ivane Chkhaidze on the sixth wave: The risk is too high

Ivane Chkhaidze, the director of the Iashvili Children's Hospital and head of the Immunization Advisory Board, does not rule out the start of the sixth wave of coronavirus in Georgia. As he noted, vaccines will work, though not in terms of protection against infection but protection against severe cases and hospitalization.

"There might be the "sixth wave," but it will be a wave where people will cure the virus at home or on an outpatient basis, they will not need hospitalization, but the rate of infection will be high," Chkhaidze said.

Ivane Chkhaidze believes that if "Omicron" spreads in Georgia, it will soon become dominant.
