US Ambassador Kelly Degnan commented on the health condition of Georgia's third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, and his detention.
According to Degnan, the President needs to receive fair and impartial treatment, medical care, and the protection of his rights.
"We are concerned about the health of the President. We are closely monitoring the situation, both here and in Washington. It is important for him to have proper medical care, medical services.
We again call on the state to ensure fair and impartial treatment of the President in accordance with Georgian and international law. Of course, because the President is a citizen of Ukraine, the Ukrainian state has a great interest in protecting its citizen," said Kelly Degnan.
