Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze says Georgia's third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, will be taken to a civilian hospital only if he needs surgery.

According to the Minister, there is no need at this stage.

"I researched data and patients who were transferred to different clinics for medical reasons, underwent surgical intervention. If the patient Saakashvili will also need various surgical interventions and there will be a medical examination, of course, a decision will be made in favor of the patient.

At this stage, he has no need to be transferred to another clinic. No one is forcing a patient to be admitted to a penitentiary hospital. It's just that this hospital meets all the needs, and that alone is the subject of discussion today," said Ekaterine Tikaradze.
