Deputy Head of the NCDC of Georgia Paata Imnadze says that the Mu COVID-19 strain has not yet been found in Georgia, and the main strains of concern here are Delta and Delta Plus.
In Imnadze's words, the Mu variant was discovered in Columbia at the beginning of the current year, with its total cases in the US being as little as 0.01%.
According to Imnadze, strains detected in Turkey are not also widespread now.
''Delta and Delta Plus are dominant strains in Georgia and let us think how to protect ourselves from them. The more people are vaccinated, the better to avoid ICU units and deaths. Also, we must wear facemasks and keep a safe social distance,'' the NCDC deputy head stated.
