After several hours of incessant rain, the Rioni River, which overflowed its banks, cut off 12 villages in the Oni municipality from the outside world.
The disaster significantly damaged infrastructure. The flooded river has washed away about ten bridges, as well as damaged roads and lands.
Relevant works are already underway to evacuate the population stuck in several places.
The river swept away three pillars of the electric power transmission lines.
Electricity is limited to Utsera, Shovi, Ghebi, Glola, and several nearby villages.
Representatives of relevant agencies left for Racha on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
