''An intense repeated testing process has been underway for three days in Mestia Municipality,'' Director of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze said.

In his words, the Lenjeri community population has also been tested.

Gamkrelidze says 571 people have left quarantine in Mestia Municipality.

Tens of people remain quarantined. The term will expire on August 27.

''We have tested 1,216 people in Mestia Municipality,'' Gamkrelidze said, adding seven new cases were identified in the Lenjeri community, while 11 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus outside Lenjeri.

Gamkrelidze says 1,421 confirmed cases have been observed in Georgia so far.
