Nika Melia, a UNM leader, says he does not intend to obey the court verdict. In his words, the electronic bracelet he was forced to wear is a symbol of injustice, which is why he threw it away.

"Against this backdrop of criminal gangs raiding electoral districts, disrupting elections and enjoying impunity, Ivanishvili is telling me to wear an electronic bracelet," Melia said, adding that he cannot wear a bracelet which is associated with injustice.

The Office of the Prosecutor has filed a motion with the court on the reconsideration of the remand measure against Nika Melia.

The court trial has been scheduled for 5 p.m.

Nika Melia removed the electronic bracelet from his wrist for all to see when making his speech.

The bracelet was fastened to Melia on July 3, and earlier the court imposed GEL 30,000 bail on him.

On July 26, The parliament of Georgia approved the decision of stripping Melia of his parliamentary immunity.

Nika Melia was charged with organizing group violence and participating in it against protesters who staged the 20-21 June protest rally outside the parliament.
