"A citizen, who arrived from China, on January 16 doesn't have a coronavirus," Paata Imnadze, the deputy director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, said.

"A 22-year-old girl, who came from China on January 16 and showed signs of a viral infection, doesn't have coronavirus and is not considered, by any international standard, a possible case of coronavirus," Paata Imnadze explained.

According to Imnadze, the 22-year-old girl is a Georgian citizen. She left one of the provinces of China before the coronavirus spread in other cities besides Wuhan.

Imnadze said that the girl got a viral infection from family members. However, it is unknown at this stage exactly what type of virus she has. The patient is treated at home, and her condition is not severe.

A 22-year-old woman from the village of Bakurtsikhe, Gurjaani municipality, addressed the clinic with the viral infection.
