Prof Ivane Chkhaidze: This will help bring issue of opening schools to top of our agenda

Prof Ivane Chkhaidze, the Head of the National Group of Technical Immunization Advisers of Georgia, expresses hope that children will start a new academic year at schools.

In the doctor's words, vaccination numbers are increasing, and new coronavirus case numbers are expected to decline sharply. 'The number of coronavirus infections is possible to fall sharply, and this will help bring the issue of opening schools to the top of our agenda,'' he stated.

A total of 23,986 citizens took coronavirus jabs in Georgia on August 19. The country now has 266,962 fully vaccinated citizens, according to NCDC.

A total of 907,665 vaccines were administered, per the 20 August data.

Georgia's death toll rose by 59 in the past 24 hours.
