'Pressure on the Media is a Shameful,' 'You Cannot Mute Us,' 'Freedom of the Media' - banners of this content were used by civil activists during the protest at Kavkasia TV. Activists of the Change and Shame Movement protested outside the building.
Together with civil activists, Elene Khoshtaria, Levan Khabeishvili, and Gubaz Sanikidze, the leaders of the opposition political parties arrived at the scene.
"The main story is that Bidzina Ivanishvili decided to silent media that does not obey him and does not carry the narrative of the government. He punishes Kavkasia TV, TV Pirveli, and all the critically acclaimed TV companies that cover what is happening in the country," one of the activists of Shame Movement stated.
The bank accounts of TV Pirveli, Kavkasia, and Rustavi 2 have been frozen since they failed to pay off government debts on time.
The Ministry of Finance warned the TV companies on 23 December and gave them one day to pay their debts.
