Public Defender makes statement on the case of possible sexual harassment by a deputy of Tbilisi Sakrebulo towards the subordinate.
“The Public Defender has addressed the law enforcement agency for the information to accomplish monitoring of the investigation in line with the assigned mandate”, the statement reads.
The Public Defender exhorts the General Prosecutors Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to conduct the investigation effectively.
“It is essential that all doubts on partiality and political interests are excluded.The investigation body has to intensively cooperate with the possible victim and her representative”, the Public Defender says.
The Defender also addresses the society and says that in the process of the case discussions a certain part of the society was spreading assaultive information regarding the possible victim which is absolutely inapplicable.
“The Public Defender will monitor the investigation process and will communicate with the possible victim and her lawyer”, the statement says.
