The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, spoke at today's government sitting about the plan to ease the restrictions imposed in Georgia from February 8 and 15.

According to him, the current epidemiological situation provides an opportunity to alleviate the restrictions.

Gakharia noted that it is important that citizens follow the rules.

"As for the epidemiological situation, the numbers are quite promising. We said that the issue of further easing of restrictions would become a matter of debate in case of positive dynamics. The daily rate of infection and positivity has already dropped below four percent, allowing us to boldly but cautiously continue to ease restrictions. However, we all need to remember our responsibility to follow the rules. Unreasonable, quick removal of restrictions is a direct way to new ones. Take care of the results achieved by managing the infection so that in late spring, early summer, we can further promote the economy and tourism.

As a result of the discussions, municipal transport will launch on Monday, February 8.

In addition, the fairs will be launched from February 8 as well.

One week later, from February 15, our children will continue their studies in the classrooms. This means that in Tbilisi, Rustavi and Kutaisi, children will continue their education in schools and classrooms, which is extremely important.

Also, From February 15, food outlets, including restaurants, will be able to operate in open spaces.

However, restrictions will be maintained over the weekend. Further easing of restrictions will be discussed in a week," Gakharia said.
