A soldier disappeared from Vaziani Military Base. The family is looking for 35-year-old Teimuraz Giunashvili. According to them, Giunashvili disappeared from the military base on December 20.
It is unclear to the family why the soldier left his cell phone under his pillow when, according to them, he always kept it by his side.
"We cannot find him anywhere. We were told that he came out in the morning and left the phone under the pillow. I do not know how it happened; he never took the phone out of his pocket. He has visited neither relatives nor friends. I can not understand what happened," said a family member while talking to Mtavari Channel.
The Ministry of Defense issued a statement regarding the incident, stating that the soldier left the base at nine o'clock in the morning on December 21.
"Contract military serviceman Teimuraz Giunashvili is serving in the Defense Forces, 4th Mechanized Brigade. The mentioned military person was in order until 09:00 on December 21 and was on duty. After the change of the order, he exercised his right to be dismissed under the contract and left the territory of the military unit, which is confirmed by patrols and surveillance video cameras.
On December 22, when the person did not report to the military unit at the appropriate time, his immediate superior made timely telephone calls to family members and relatives regarding the incident. Currently, the Ministry of Defense is in full coordination with the relevant agency to determine the whereabouts of the military servicemen,'' the statement reads.
