Statement of the prison doctor on the health condition of Mikheil Saakashvili

According to anesthesiologist-resuscitator Sandro Mateshvili, Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition is satisfactory.

At a briefing at the penitentiary service, the doctor said that the third president had not been taking medication for three days, causing the condition to worsen, although, at this stage, the laboratory data had improved.

"Due to the fact that the patient has not been taking medication for the last three days, changes in laboratory data were noted. Yesterday the patient received all the prescribed medications, and consequently, the laboratory data, including the potassium level, improved. The patient continues to take the prescribed medication. The condition is stable. Basic vital data pulse, pressure, saturation, blood glucose levels are within the norm. As of today, his life is not in danger," Sandro Mateshvili said.

According to Mateshvili, the institution has extensive experience in managing the condition of starving prisoners and their subsequent rehabilitation.

Mikheil Saakashvili has been on a hunger strike for 48 days already. Saakashvili says he is ready to end the hunger strike if he is taken to a civilian clinic.
