To prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in Georgia, the government tightened quarantine restrictions. Today, from 21:00, four big cities of Georgia will close.
It is forbidden to enter and leave Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi, and Batumi.
The restriction provides for some exceptions.
According to the amendments to the resolution, the restriction does not apply to:
A) movement of employees of a medical institution due to their official activities;
B) international and local cargo transportation;
C) movement of representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia based on official activities;
D) transfer of accused / convicts;
E) collection of cash, precious metals, and other valuables;
F) movement for the supply of electricity, natural gas, water production/transmission/distribution/supply, as well as services related to the management of telecommunications, postal and waste management;
G) movement for railway traffic;
H) movement of media representatives to carry out journalistic activities;
I) to move to provide ritual services (transfer/burial of the deceased);
J) movement of international organizations for humanitarian purposes;
K) movement to carry out private security activities;
L) public institutions and entities implementing economic activities permitted by this resolution, persons/vehicles on the list agreed with the operational headquarters, the movement of which is critically necessary for the performance of official duties during the state of emergency.
Also, entries registered in these municipalities are not prohibited from entering municipalities, and entries registered in other municipalities are not banned from leaving municipalities.
The resolution, adopted by the government on April 14, will enter into force on April 15, 2020, at 21:00.
