“Initially, when the pandemic outburst, the expectations of risks were higher. No one knew how it would develop, and there was a risk of uncontrolled spread of the disease but for the state of emergency,” – said Director of the Infectious Disease Hospital, Tengiz Tsertsvadze.

According to him, based on the experience, the government team and doctors consider that increase in coronavirus cases does not represent a severe hazard to the country to introduce emergency measures, such as a lockdown.

“The whole world gained the experience, and we did too. We know what to expect and when. Based on this experience, both the government team and doctors consider that the current pace of the increasing number of cases in some of the localities does not represent a hazard to the country; hence it does not require the introduction of emergency measures and lockdown. The country learned how to manage the pandemic, including the clinical sector, which is much more prepared and ready to serve twenty-thirty cases a day. We had only two fatalities in the last month and a half,” – said Tengiz Tsertsvadze.
