“The clergy and parishioners of Tsilkni Diocese and Dusheti are concerned about the allegations and gruesome slander towards Metropolitan Zosime by longtime apostates from Church”, statement issued by the Diocese of Tsilkni and Dusheti said.
“Today, when a similar accusation is made towards Ilia II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia and the spiritual leader of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the issue is raised directly against the church in order to undermine the values we still have".
The authors of the statement appeal to the authorities and Georgian Church demanding appropriate measures to be taken to stop such slander.
According to them, the case is related to the events that occurred 31 years ago and if Metropolitan Zosime was guilty of such sin, it would not be possible not to witness such behavior more than once.
