Vaccines allowed as booster doses in Georgia

Tengiz Tsertsvadze, the General Director of the Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center, says that the Pfizer vaccine will be allowed as a booster dose of coronavirus vaccines in Georgia in the first stage, and then the Chinese-made Sinovac, Sinopharm, will be added to the list.

"I have not heard of a booster dose on AstraZeneca. But there is talk that those vaccinated with Sinovac, Sinopharm, and AstraZeneca will receive Pfizer as a booster dose; Pfizer is a kind of universal booster. Those who have been vaccinated with Pfizer will get the same vaccine, and those who have been vaccinated with other vaccines will be vaccinated with the Pfizer booster.

In China, however, they use their vaccines, Sinovac and Sinopharm, for booster doses. It is my prediction; a booster dose will be allowed first for Pfizer and then for Sinovac, Sinopharm," Tengiz Tsertsvadze told the "Dgis Kurieri."

According to him, the third or booster dose significantly increases immunity, and it is done six months after the second vaccination.
