Free IDs will reportedly be issued to Georgian citizens for a month.
According to the Justice Ministry, the initiative is related to unimpeded participation in the election process.
The initiative is set to come into force on 1 September.
The following citizens will be exempt from the responsibility of paying ID charges:
a) Those whose all ID documents, including their job passports, will expire before 1 Oct 2021, with no legal ID documents existing on their behalf (including ID passports).
b) Adults with Georgian citizenship on whose behalf no ID documents verifying their Georgian citizenship have so far been issued.
c) Citizens photographs in whose ID documents are useless (of no quality) or are not kept in the electronic database of the Public Service Development Agency.
Citizens willing to obtain free ID documents have to visit justice houses, territorial services of the Public Service Development Agency, or public centers.
