Attempts to import undeclared gold were prevented at the customs checkpoints of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance.

At the customs checkpoint "Sadakhlo Automobile," the truck of G.K., an Armenian citizen entering from the Republic of Armenia, was examined by an X-ray scanner.

Customs officers found gold items (weighing 224.41 grams) and firearms in a special hiding place in the cabin of the truck. The total customs value of the undeclared goods amounted to GEL 37,821.76.

Also, the fact of violation was revealed at the customs checkpoint "Sarpi." The customs officers found undeclared gold jewelry and coins (weighing 218.96 grams) during the X-ray scan of the Georgian citizen I.Kh. The total customs value of the goods amounted to GEL 27,756.77.

Two more cases of smuggling gold across the border were prevented at Tbilisi International Airport. The customs officers found a total of GEL 34,273.8 worth of undeclared gold (total weight 279.8 grams) worth of jewelry in possession of citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the Customs Code, the citizens violating the law were fined a total of GEL 34,273.8.
