Melor Vachnadze, has been detained in France after being charged with attempted murder. In his video address, Melor Vachnadze maintains that he is innocent and accuses France of political persecution.
"I am facing attempted murder charges. Shots were fired inside a store in the vicinity of my house, in the city of Montpellier. They say offenders were Georgians. Three months after this incident, I was detained. A witness says that a man who fired shots was 170 cm tall, but I am 2 meters tall. Nothing coincides. A security camera is in the store, and they can view the footage. The judge claims that as I was active in France and held protest actions there, I may help people hide, which is why I am now serving my prison sentence," Melor Vachnadze declared and added that he wants France to publicize evidence and release him from custody if he turns out innocent. Vachnadze claims that the French authorities do not like that he helped immigrants and, in his words, precisely this is the reason why he has been subjected to political persecution.
