The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a statement regarding the detention of protesters in Tbilisi, explaining that the police have detained 46 people.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs protects the right of our citizens to hold peaceful assemblies and demonstrations guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia. At the same time, it should be noted that according to the Law of Georgia on Assemblies and Manifestations, it is prohibited to block the entrances of the buildings of administrative bodies and to suspend their activities.

As in the previous days, today the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees are mobilized and are maintaining public order due to security measures and to avoid artificial escalation of events," the statement said.

The police will immediately stop any violation of the law, and an appropriate legal response will follow.
