Employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as a result of operative-investigative measures, arrested one person on the grounds of fraudulent misappropriation of a large amount of state-owned funds and large-scale property damage to the state budget through the production of forged tax documents.
As Report.ge was informed from the agency, the investigation revealed that the accused, who was the manager of 8 companies registered in Georgia, in order to obtain illegal material benefits, in 2019-2020, wrote false tax invoices for the construction and repair services worth more than GEL 3,000,00 among the companies under his management. This way, the entrepreneurs mentioned above created the so-called fictitious value-added tax asset in the amount of approximately GEL 500,000, part of which - GEL 157,435 the manager fraudulently misappropriated, and part of which he used to cover his tax liabilities to companies.
The investigation is underway under the first part of Article 210, third parts f Articles 180 and 185 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment for a term of 6 to 9 years.
